Cyclades islands
The Cyclades islands are the essence of quintessential Greece, with their sun-baked rocks, spectacular sunsets and blindingly white houses; they portray most people’s image of the country.
The islands are so named because they form a circle (kyklos) around the World Heritage-listed island of Delos, one of the country's most significant archaeological sites.
Though the style and traditions on each island are very similar they vary greatly in atmosphere and scenery, they all have a unique character. Some totally unique, such as Santorini, the volcanic wonder of Greece, with its distinctive upmarket atmosphere and clientele. Perfect for families or lovers, Santorini is one of the ‘must visit places’ in your lifetime.
Mykonos you visit for fantastic beaches, extreme nightlife and a chance to mingle with the ‘in’ crowd of Europe, and indeed further field; the most famous island in the Mediterranean for trendy sophistication, expect to see the same swanky shops and classy restaurants that would grace any capital city. As well as the ‘jet set’ rich and famous that frequents the island Mykonos also has the reputation of being one of Europe’s gay capitals.
Paros offers a good balance of nightlife with and relaxation, with beautiful landscapes, golden sandy beaches, traditional villages, picturesque fishing harbours and archaeological sites.
Naxos has an authentic beauty, is great for walking, has lovely hillside local villages, and is still very traditional and the most fertile and green of her Cycladic sisters. Marvelous beaches, some of which remain almost isolated even during high season.
The smaller islands, Folegandros, Sifnos, Serifos and Milos, offer tranquillity, superb beaches and a timeless retreat to escape the trials of modern life. Though more difficult to get there, once on these islands the pace of life changes and relaxation sets in.
Whether you are looking for relaxation and tradition, sophistication and fun, or romantic retreats and family resorts, these islands have something to appeal to everyone.

Best time to visit is June and early September. Islands are less packed while service is better and prices are significantly lower. For those who wish to be in crowds, July and August are the best months.

AEGEAN ISLANDS: Santorini island in Cyclades
The most famous of Greek islands, indeed maybe of all islands, Santorini is truly breathtaking. Considered by many as the possible ancient city of Atlantis; this totally unique island is crowned by its beautiful white villages of Fira, Imerovigli and Oia, clinging to the black rock and staring straight into the heart of the crater (caldera).
The unusual scenery is compiled of layers of black ash and red lava left from eruptions dating back to at least 3500 years ago.
As well as being the most extraordinary island in the country, it is also the most sophisticated and its characteristic white washed Cycladic houses now have stylish interiors, hidden pools and attract the jet set of the world.
Aside of the stunning sunsets, romantic atmosphere and incredible light, the island also offers some amazing beaches; most with black or red sand sloping into the incredibly cool, clear waters of the Aegean. With some of the most upmarket restaurants and bars in Greece, Santorini is also well known for its food and wine; the local grapes being excellent due to the rich minerals left behind in the volcanic soil.
As a honeymoon retreat, a sophisticated haven of nightlife, or for anyone wishing to view this natural and archaeological wonder; the island does not disappoint. Although a distinctly upmarket destination, it brings a varied audience from all over the globe and from all walks of life, celebrities to backpackers, who even if only for a day, come to see the incredible sight of the Santorini caldera at sunset.
